The Kern County 地方检察官’s Office has a 受害者服务 Unit that is dedicated to ensuring the rights of crime victims are enforced and that victims have a meaningful voice throughout the criminal justice process.

The unit has advocates who are trained to assist victims and their families cope with the traumatic effects of crime. As a member of the prosecution team, advocates can provide information on criminal cases after victims have reported to law enforcement and support for those who need to report a crime. Collaboration with other community agencies ensure that additional needs and services are available.

Advocates are also qualified to assist victims of violent crime apply for the California Victim Compensation Program which may be able to assist with the reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses related to the crime, 不包括财产损失.

CalVCB reimburses for the following expenses:
